Turmeric chai latte mix

So I’ve decided that because I’m getting old and sore that I need to take a few steps to that will benefit my well-being. I am aiming to slow down the aging process, or at least manage it. Turmeric has such amazing anti-inflammatory benefits, just “Google” it, that I decided to give it a go.

This actually tastes pretty good, and gives me a pretty good start to the day. Because of the spice combination it tastes like a meal and is very satisfying.

Once I had this a few days in a row I decided that mucking around with multiple bottles of spices was not for me so I made a mix up. All I now need to do is take a teaspoon of the mix, add it to some hot water to dissolve the lumps, add a bit of milk, hit with the stick mixer then into the microwave.

In reality, most mornings I make a shot of espresso, add the spices to milk and froth it with the steamer wand. My dirty Chai, Turmeric coffee.

TURMERIC CHAI LATTE MIX

Ingredients

  • 5 tbs Turmeric
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 3 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp grated nutmeg

Method

  1. Measure all the ingredients into a glass jar with a screw top lid.

Making it

1. Stick mixer method (some choose to do it in a saucepan)

Put a teaspoon of the mix in jug, add some hot water and whisk well to dissolve any lumps, add about a half cup of milk, (almond milk, coconut milk or a bit of each) whisk vigorously using a stick mixer, making it frothy, then warm it in the microwave. Pour it into a cup and top with hot water or milk depending on taste. Sweeten with your choice of sweetener – sugar, honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar.  .  .  .

2. The coffee machine method:

Make a shot of your favourite coffee.

Put the spice mix in the frothing jug and steam until there is a good froth and the temperature is right.

Pour the yellow milk over the coffee shot, sweeten as desired.
