With a good blender, this is an easy and very healthy recipe. There are no peanuts in it but they could be added.

With the ingredients including a variety of seeds, mixed nuts and olive oil, the nut butter, although it seems quite expensive, it makes quite a large quantity, and the health benefits, with all of its omega 3’s are out there. It also tastes great for afternoon tea on a Vita Weet biscuit with a dash of chilli sauce.

 NUT BUTTER – LIKE NUTZO

Nuts Ready For Toasting

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup flax seeds
  • ¼ cup chia seeds
  • ¼ cup psyllium husk
  • ½ cup sunflower seeds
  • ½ cup pumpkin seeds
  • ½ cup sesame seeds
  • 250 g raw almonds
  • 250g raw cashews
  • 250g raw walnuts

For crunchy nut butter separate a portion of each of the nuts and toast them in the actifry or fry pan. Chop lightly and keep separate before blending the rest of the nut/seed mix.

(or 1 kg of raw mixed nuts)

  • Rice bran or similar oil if necessary
  • salt to taste

Nut butter in the blender

  1. Using a really good food blender is essential for the break down of the flax seeds. If you don’t have one then by ground flax seeds.
  2. Add the ingredients and turn on the blender. Blend until all of the nuts and seeds are pulverised and start joining together.
  3. For the crunchy variety add the chopped toasted nuts at the end.
  4. Add oil if necessary to bring the mix together.
