With a good blender, this is an easy and very healthy recipe. There are no peanuts in it but they could be added.
With the ingredients including a variety of seeds, mixed nuts and olive oil, the nut butter, although it seems quite expensive, it makes quite a large quantity, and the health benefits, with all of its omega 3’s are out there. It also tastes great for afternoon tea on a Vita Weet biscuit with a dash of chilli sauce.
NUT BUTTER – LIKE NUTZO
Ingredients
- ¼ cup flax seeds
- ¼ cup chia seeds
- ¼ cup psyllium husk
- ½ cup sunflower seeds
- ½ cup pumpkin seeds
- ½ cup sesame seeds
- 250 g raw almonds
- 250g raw cashews
- 250g raw walnuts
For crunchy nut butter separate a portion of each of the nuts and toast them in the actifry or fry pan. Chop lightly and keep separate before blending the rest of the nut/seed mix.
(or 1 kg of raw mixed nuts)
- Rice bran or similar oil if necessary
- salt to taste
Method
- Using a really good food blender is essential for the break down of the flax seeds. If you don’t have one then by ground flax seeds.
- Add the ingredients and turn on the blender. Blend until all of the nuts and seeds are pulverised and start joining together.
- For the crunchy variety add the chopped toasted nuts at the end.
- Add oil if necessary to bring the mix together.
